ionoco launches Web2TV

ionoco announced today the launch of Web2TV, a brand new broadcast technology that allows production companies to deliver broadcast-quality programmes via the internet using network cameras. A first in the marketplace, Web2TV provides full gallery functionality and has been developed in response to growing demand for lower cost production. A basic system costs under £100 a day.

Awareness TV, a new self-promotional channel by Canis Media on Sky Channel 888, is the first to use this latest broadcasting technology. The channel features live video of tropical fish accompanied by ambient music, alongside ‘Canis Fish Facts’ and information about Canis Media. Web2TV films and delivers the live images from Canis Media’s London studios to the Sky digital platform seven days a week.

Previously web camera technology and bandwidth have restricted broadcasters’ ability to deliver high-quality broadcasts via the internet. However, using a T1 line, Web2TV enables productions to be broadcast at higher than standard definition.

Simon Ingram, CEO of ionoco, explains, “Broadcasters and indies are looking for solutions that will be easy on the budget without compromising quality. Web2TV delivers not only broadcast-quality footage, it is able to deliver finished programming in near high definition.”

Web2TV is available now.
