matrix is a compelling and distinctive new graphical selection system designed to be transparent, auditable and fair that can be used in any format including participation TV and editorial-based competitions, gaming, lottery, live events and more. matrix addresses the key broadcast issues raised in the Ofcom consultation on participation TV

In the case of phone-in competitions, participants are entered into the matrix sequentially, then given a unique coordinate within the matrix that they can verify online and on TV to confirm their entry and to track their progress throughout the competition.

The winning coordinates are then selected using random, unpredictable data such as stock market prices, temperatures or lottery numbers and a patented random and fully transparent selection system. matrix can be fully integrated into any format, and data can be accessed before, during or after the competition.

The new system includes a built-in tamper-proof audit log, allowing broadcasters and regulators to have a record of every stage of the competition. The process is secure, fully auditable and all coordinates are verifiable by anyone at any point in the process. matrix will help restore viewers’ trust, broadcaster integrity and phone-in revenues, offering a real solution to the recent premium rate problems.

The system sits on ionologic™, a proven software platform, and runs on ionocore™ hardware. It is flexible and can easily be configured by broadcasters and production companies to suit the look and feel of individual productions.

matrix will be available both as a full online system, as well as a standalone product. The online system allows full integration with premium rate services and telephone service providers and is intended for participation and call TV, editorial competitions, online games, quizzes and much more. Key elements of the system are the matrix application, ionologic platform, data server, and interfaces to third parties (IVR, mobile, web etc.). The standalone system is designed for smaller selections, for example studio competitions to select winners from the audience, prizes and games.
