IONOCO CONTROLS MILLION DOLLAR MONEY DROP IN THE USA AND ISRAEL

International broadcast technology company, ionoco today announced it has been chosen to supply the technology for Million Dollar Money Drop in the USA and Israel. As well as providing the system which will generate the graphics and information feeds and control the game play, ionoco has also developed an innovative automatic money counting system for the American version of the show.

In Million Dollar Money Drop, contestants are given their prize at the beginning of the show – a million in cash. Their challenge is to keep hold of it by correctly placing their winnings on the trapdoor displaying the correct answer. If the answer is wrong their money falls through the trapdoor and is lost.

ionoco has designed the core computer system which generates the on-set and on-screen graphics and information feeds, provides functionality for audio sound effects and lighting cues synchronised with game play, and releases the trapdoors in any order and configuration. It incorporates ionoco’s proprietary cueing system which takes the operator through the steps of the game play in sequence, with control options.

ionoco has also developed a unique money counting system for the US version of the show. This is built into the trapdoors and counts the money on them. This provides an immediate indication of how the money is distributed, and also gives a real time display of the money being counted up as it is placed on the trapdoors and moved around.

Million Dollar Money Drop will air on December 20th on Fox in the US. It is produced by Endemol USA. The format made its debut on October 13th in Israel on Keshet, produced by July August Productions.

Simon Ingram, Managing Director of ionoco, says: “Our computer system provides a simple and flexible method of managing the game play for Million Dollar Money Drop, with the added innovation of the real time money weighing device.

As there is minimum operator control required and all aspects of the display – such as graphics, language, font or color – can be changed, it is very easy to roll the format out to territories worldwide with the same high-quality production standard.”
