IONOCO CHOSEN TO POWER THE FRAME
FOR JULY AUGUST PRODUCTIONS AND ARMOZA FORMATS

International broadcast technology company ionoco today announced it has been selected as the preferred technology supplier for July August Productions’s new cross-platform reality show The Frame, which is being distributed by Armoza Formats.

The Frame follows eight couples from around the country who have the living space in their own homes reduced to one camera frame. There's just one rule: If you're out of The Frame, you're out of the game. Couples must compete against one another to win the hearts and attention of the nation's viewers and, ultimately, the grand prize.

ionoco has designed a fully-integrated apartment solution, featuring in-built redundancy and a compliance delay, which provides functionality for switching between PTZ video cameras, applying graphical data and controlling lighting and audio. The system is highly configurable and cost-effective, meaning ionoco can provide a solution to meet the budgets of different sizes of territories.

In the studio, ionoco’s fully-automated system acts like a studio-in-a-box, providing functionality to receive, cut and mix up to 8 simultaneous video feeds and overlay graphics. Computers running ionoco’s proprietary software platform ionologic control the system through a bespoke user interface.

The Frame includes bi-weekly or daily broadcasts on TV, alongside 24-hour online and mobile broadcasts plus social networking applications designed by Teewe Interactive. Armoza Formats is taking The Frame to MIPTV and pre-market deals have already been inked in several territories, including with a major French broadcaster where the show is in development.

Avi Armoza, CEO at Armoza Formats, said: "The Frame is an innovative and original new format reality show and ionoco’s technology is key to realizing its potential. ionoco is a leader in game show technology and knows how to meet the creative and technical needs of a complex project cost-effectively. We look forward to working with them in taking The Frame to TVs, computers and mobiles around the world."

Simon Ingram, Managing Director of ionoco, adds: “We’ve identified and integrated a range of cutting-edge technologies to build a bespoke and cost effective solution for The Frame that will enable broadcasters to show a screen split of eight mini screens via their website and other platforms, broadcasting everything that takes place in each of the couple’s homes. The Frame is a new genre of reality television and we are excited to be part of it.”

ionoco was recently nominated at the Broadcast Engineering Excellence Awards 2010 for its work with GTECH for Super Lotto – the new pan-Caribbean lottery game – which utilises ionoco’s TV2GO Web technology.
