Glassman Media Appoints ionoco As Technical Partner On Spin The Wheel

Game-show specialists agree deal that locks in proprietary technology

ionoco Group, the UK- and US-headquartered broadcast-technology specialist, has announced its latest agreement with Glassman Media, which owns FOX’s hotly anticipated new game show, Spin the Wheel. The format,co-created by Justin Timberlake, went straight to series on FOX in the US,where it is due to air tonight.  

 

Co-created by Timberlake and The Wall developer/executive producer Andrew Glassman of Glassman Media, Spin the Wheel offerswhat is claimed to be one of the biggest prizes in the history of primetime: the chance to win $20m per episode. A mix of high-stakes tension, pop culture and stunning visuals, the gameplay sees contestants pitted against a spinning 40-foot wheel. Players add cash to the giant wheel’s wedges by correctly answering trivia questions — or see their prize pot dwindle to zero if they answer wrong.

 

ionoco provided Glassman Media with technical and creative consultancy on the flagship FOX series, which will be fronted by Parenthood star Dax Shepard. ionoco was brought in at the development stage of Spinthe Wheel, not only designing and constructing a 3D visualisationof the wheel, but also providing the core stage control technology for the entireshow. All the creative technical aspects of the format were developed in co-operationwith ionoco’s team, resulting in a giant rotating Ferris wheel, with 192 LED video panels, over a kilometer of addressable LED ribbon. ionoco’s show control system provided all the game and lighting feeds, motor control and randomization, LIDAR ball tracking plus the presentation of the trivia questions and videos.
